1. Who is this course for? +

The Transport Malta Nautical licence is needed by all residents in Malta wishing to drive any type of vessel with an engine of 30HP and up.

2. What can I operate with this licence? +

You can legally operate:

Powerboats
Jet skis
Recreational vessels under 24m
Boats with engines over 30HP within Maltese waters

3. Do I need previous boating experience? +

No. The course is suitable for complete beginners.

4. What will I learn? +

You will learn:

Basic seamanship
Safe boat handling

5. Are there any extra fees to be paid? +

The course fee is €260, exam fee is €40 both due to us.

One of the forms needs to be signed and stamped by a doctor in Malta.
Upon successful completion of the course, students need to register for their licence card, the fee is €23.29 payable directly to Transport Malta.

6. Can I cross to Sicily with my boat with this licence? +

No, the Transport Malta Nautical licence covers you to drive a boat up to 12nm in local waters only, covering Malta, Gozo and Comino.

7. Is the course fully online? +

No, the theory lessons are covered online via Zoom, then we meet for a 2 hour practical in person held on our boat. Around 1/2 weeks later, all students have a 15 minute exam held in person at Transport Malta offices in Lija.
